Dressmaker Dress pieces, panels and compatible design choices

Understand the difference between a dress component, its panels and fabric placement, including the official sketchbook and inventory hints.

Official record. Reviewed 9 October 2026.

What is the difference between a component and a panel?

A component is the chosen part of the silhouette; panels are the construction pieces associated with it. Keeping those concepts separate helps when a design choice produces several inventory entries. Use the labels in your own build rather than expecting one panel per visible section.

How can you review a complicated pattern?

Start with a silhouette map: upper body, skirt, sleeves and neckline. Then list the panels the game actually generates. This is an organisational method, not a statement that every dress uses all four areas.

Question Where to look
Which design option did I choose? Sketchbook component name
Which piece am I holding? Inventory label
Where does it belong? Build 410 hover hint
Is the assembled appearance right? Mannequin preview

Can you assume every combination is compatible?

No complete compatibility matrix is published in the sources used here. Check the preview instead of extrapolating from one example. Change one component at a time if you are trying to understand a different shape.

Sources and evidence

Player observations should be checked against your installed build. Editorial checklists are not guarantees of perfect scores or universal unlock behaviour.
