Dressmaker Fabric reference: choose a visual direction

A source-aware overview of the fabric families named by Dressmaker, with an original colour and contrast planning worksheet for your next design.

Which fabric families are confirmed?

The publisher names cotton, linen, wool, silk and velvet. This is an introductory family list, not a full catalogue of purchasable swatches. No rarity, price or numerical quality ranking is implied here.

How can you choose a palette?

Start from a mood you can describe in one sentence. For example, “quiet and formal” suggests a different contrast level from “bright and playful.” These are design prompts rather than in-game tag-score definitions.

Decision Your note
Main colour The colour seen from across the room
Accent A smaller colour that creates contrast
Focal panel Where the eye should land first
Repetition The detail that links front and back

Try checking the preview at a smaller scale. If the silhouette and colour balance read well there, small decorations can become supporting details rather than the entire design.

Are expensive materials always better?

We have not established a material-price-to-score rule. Do not treat a real-world fabric hierarchy as a game tier list. Consult the request in your current game, make a deliberate choice, then compare the actual result.

Where is the list from?

Free Lives press kit. The palette worksheet is our editorial method, not an official gameplay rule.
